Board elections

We have recently mentioned that two Board positions are up for election this January. We can now confirm that neither Karl Mann or Rowland Davis intend to run for re-election, so we have a NEED for at least two interested HOA members to consider running. Legally, the Board could function with only three members -- but this would be far from ideal, and would place a real burden on the existing Board members. Please contact the Board if you have any interest in running, and/or plan to attend the Board meeting this Saturday to join in the discussion of this issue.

Next Board meeting 12/13

The next meeting of the Board will be on Saturday December 13th. The meeting will be at the Christopher Creek fire station and will start at 10am. All members are invited to attend.

For 2009, two Board positions are open for election – those currently held by Karl Mann and Rowland Davis. At this time it is not known if either Karl or Rowland will seek re-election. If you would like to serve the HCR community, please consider running for the Board. If you have an interest, or any questions, please email the Board. Further discussion will take place at the December 13th Board meeting, when ballots will be finalized for the January election.

Local election events

This Saturday morning, October 25th, there will be two informational events that relate to local elections. Both will be held at the Christopher Creek fire station.

At 10am there will be a candidates forum for the Christopher-Kohls Fire District Board election. All four candidates have said that will attend.

At 11am there will be a candidates forum for the Gila County Supervisor, District One election. Both incumbent Tommie Martin and candidate Dan Haapala have said that they will attend.

This is a chance to become better informed about local issues. Even if you are not eligible to vote in the local elections, knowing the candidates and the issues is important.

Board Meeting 8/9

The next meeting of the HCR HOA Board will be on Saturday, August 9th. The meeting will be at 10am in the Christopher Creek fire station. All members are welcome to attend.

Propane grills

If you are like me, it really sucks when you are halfway through grilling some steaks and you run out of propane. Good news -- Frank and Mikey Marazza (Wooden Nickel Cabins) can now supply propane tanks for grills. It costs $20 if you exchange your empty tank for a full one, and $41 if you just buy a new tank with no exchange. Call them at 478-4519 if you need one.

UPDATE: Cattle grazing and fence repairs

In our recent newsletter, we alerted everyone that cattle will be grazing in the National Forest lands along our northern boundary starting around June 1st (under an existing grazing permit issued by the NFS to a local rancher). We also asked owners of lots that border the NF to repair the fence between their lots and the NF land. Based on feedback we received and further discussions among the Board, we have revised our approach to the fence repairs.

For the initial repairs required at this time, the HOA will assume full responsibility for the work and expense. We will have a crew do the needed repairs as soon as possible.

We will be issuing further guidance on how ongoing fence maintenance will be handled, and who will be financially responsible. But you must know that cutting or removing the fence on your lot is prohibited.

Clean-up day and pot luck picnic

Mark your calendar for Saturday, June 7th. We are organizing a clean-up day, to be followed by a pot luck picnic. Arrangements are in place for any forest waste (branches, logs, bags of needles)that you place on the street that day to be picked up and hauled to the burn pit. Look for more details in the next newsletter, which should be mailed soon.

Due to a conflict, the time for the Board meeting this Saturday is being changed to 1:00pm (had been scheduled for 10:00am). The meeting will be at the Christopher Creek fire station, and all members are welcome.

The location for this Saturday's Board meeting has changed from Karl Mann's home to the Christopher Creek fire station. The start time is still 10am.

There will be a Board meeting next Saturday, April 19th, at 10am. The meeting will be at Karl Mann's home (lot 109), and all members are welcome to attend.

Annual HOA meeting Jan. 26th

The annual HCR HOA meeting will be held on Saturday January 26th at 1pm in the Christopher Creek fire station. New Board members will be elected. If you cannot attend the meeting, please mail your ballot so that it is received by next Friday.
